[0014] Reference will now be made in detail to non-limiting examples of the present disclosure, examples of which are illustrated in the accompanying drawings. The examples are described below with reference to the drawings, wherein like reference numerals refer to like elements. When the same reference numerals are shown, the corresponding description is not repeated, and interested readers can refer to previously discussed figures for a description of the same elements.

[0015] Augmented reality (AR) systems include systems for inserting computer-generated (CG) content into a user's perception of the physical space around the user. Computer-generated content may include 3D entities, labels, text information, images, sprites, 3D entities, etc. In some implementations, Inserts are for entertainment, educational or informational purposes.

[0016] An exemplary AR system is a portable electronic device, such as a smartphone, that includes a camera and a display device. A por...

Abstract

Systems and methods for enhanced specular reflections are provided. An example method may include determining a first portion of a specular reflection associated with a computer-generated object basedon a first contribution from an environment map component at a shading point of the computer-generated object and determining a second portion of the specular reflection associated with the computer-generated object based on a second contribution from a camera feed component at an intersection point of a camera feed and a reflection vector associated with the environment map component. The example method may further include determining the specular reflection, at the shading point, associated with the computer-generated object based on a blending of the first and second portions of the specular reflection.

Description

[0001] Cross References to Related Applications [0002] This application is a continuation of, and claims priority to, U.S. Application No. 16 / 374,406, filed April 3, 2019, which claims U.S. Provisional Patent Application No. 62 / 653,889, filed April 6, 2018 interests, both publications are incorporated herein by reference in their entirety. Background technique [0003] Content can be inserted into images or in the user's field of view. For example, augmented reality (AR) systems can generate immersive augmented environments for users by inserting content. Immersive augmented environments can be generated by superimposing computer-generated content on top of the real-world view of the user. For example, computer-generated content may include three-dimensional entities, labels, textual information, images, sprites (composite images or sprites), and the like. These images can be displayed somewhere in the user's field of view so as to appear to overlay real-world objects. S...
