[0036] Diagnostic markers for sepsis have been studied for many years. Even so, there are still no definitive diagnostic tests or biomarkers available to determine sepsis. It was previously thought that a panel of seven blood cell-related factors could be examined to identify possible septic infection. As early as a few years ago, it was recognized that a calculated parameter or index based on at least two of seven factors was needed for septic infection prediction.
