In general, it is noted that the rim width is chosen such that at a given adapter width L (see image 3 ), the configuration of the tire is as similar as possible to the configuration it would have if it were mounted directly on an appropriate rim without the use of an adapter. The rim 3 has a mounting well 33 extending on both sides of the median plane M by two bosses 34 , two rim wells 31 each extending through a rim flange 32 .
