Provided are a control device and a control method that enable an auto cruise operation that has been suppressed by a malfunction in a rear-wheel friction brake mechanism to be performed. A motorcyclebraking device according to the present invention is provided with a mode change unit that that changes modes during automatic deceleration in an auto cruise operation to a first mode in which the temperature of a rear wheel friction braking mechanism is less than a first prescribed temperature, and to a second mode in which the temperature is greater than the first prescribed temperature. When the braking forces generated in the rear wheel in the first mode and the second mode are compared under the condition that the deceleration generated in the motorcycle by automatic deceleration is thesame, in a state in which the deceleration is at least less than a first reference amount, the braking force generated in the rear wheel in the second mode is smaller than the braking force generatedin the rear wheel in the first mode.
