Abstract

The invention discloses a method and a device for updating an eUICC operating system. The method for updating the operating system according to the embodiment of the invention comprises the following steps: reading information of a Profile installed on an embedded universal integrated circuit card (eUICC) by a local file assistant (LPA), wherein the information comprises an ICCID and an Operator ID; initiating an OS version compatibility query to a subscription management-data preparation unit SM-DP+ through the LPA, wherein the query message carries an the ICCID and a new OS version number; finding a corresponding Profile according to the ICCID through the SM-DP+, and judging whether the Profile is compatible with a new OS version by referring to the registration information of the OS version; and enabling the SM-DP+ to return an OS version compatibility query result to the LPA.
