Embodiment Construction

[0085] Figure 1a and Figure 1b Different sizes of self-expanding stents 10 are shown. Figure 1a The stent 10a refers to a stent for placement in the SVC, while Figure 1b The stent 10b refers to a stent for placement in the IVC.

[0086] All embodiments of the stent according to the invention comprise a frame 12 made up of a plurality of arms 14 made of Nitinol. Nitinol is a flexible metal that is self-expendable. Accordingly, the stent 10 can be delivered to a point of interest, such as the SVC or IVC of a human, in a compressed state so that they self-expand after being placed.

[0087] Frame 12 also includes three sections interconnected by arms 14 , namely proximal PE, distal DE and middle MP. The proximal PE is characterized in that it is the end of the stent 10, which also includes a valve 16 made of dry bovine pericardium and a skirt 18 made of dry bovine pericardium and polyester. Figure 1b Leaflets 20 of valve 16 are also shown. Valve 16 may include 2 to 6 le...

Abstract

The invention relates to a self-expanding stent, which is provided with a dry valve made of bovine pericardium disposed at a proximal end thereof, and a skirt surrounding the dry valve at a proximal end of the stent and made of one of bovine pericardium and polyester, wherein the dry valve is configured to be rehydrated when in contact with a solution, and the stent includes an eyelet disposed at a proximal end of the stent to secure the stent to a point of interest, the point of interest including one of a superior vena cava and an inferior vena cava. The invention also relates to a stent set comprising two self-expandable stents and means for self-expandable stents.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates to self-expanding stents with dry valves. Furthermore, the invention relates to a stent set comprising two self-expanding stents according to the invention, and a delivery device for delivering a self-expanding stent according to the invention. Background technique [0002] Healthy heart function supplies the body with the necessary blood. The anatomy of the heart consists of four chambers: the right atrium, right ventricle, left atrium, and left ventricle. The valve is located between the two right chambers (tricuspid valve) and left chamber (mitral valve). Blood flows from the vena cava, the superior and inferior vena cava, to the right atrium. Blood flows from the right atrium through the tricuspid valve into the right ventricle. Blood flows from the right ventricle to the lungs through the pulmonary valve. After oxygenation, blood flows back into the left atrium, through the mitral valve and into the left ventricl...
