Benefits of technology

This patented describes an apparatus that measures blood vessel pressures without causing pain or discomfort during surgery. It uses tiny bubbles made from special materials called particles instead of air (a gas). These small balls are attached at one end to a rotating disk inside a chamber where they move slowly through fluid containing them. By measuring these movements over time, we get more accurate data about how well fluids circulate throughout our body compared to traditional methods such as arterial tonometry.

Problems solved by technology

This patented technical problem addressed in this patents relates to improving diagnostic accuracy during treatment planning or monitoring patient conditions related to portal hypertrophy (the condition where there's no significant increase in intrahepatic pressures) due to chronicity of livers failure associated with certain medical procedures like ablation therapy or transplant surgery.

Abstract

The invention designs a method for noninvasive measurement of hepatic portal venous pressure in biomedicine by using a fluid dynamic model. The invention aims to obtain the response of the contrast agent at the position of the hepatic portal vein to the subharmonic signal through ultrasound, and obtain the relationship between the ultrasound contrast microbubble and the environmental pressure by utilizing a fluid dynamic model. And correcting the fluid mechanics model in combination with an in-vitro experiment. The purpose of obtaining the hepatic portal venous pressure before an operation is achieved. Compared with a previous pressure measuring method, the method for measuring the hepatic portal vein pressure has the following advantages that the hepatic portal vein pressure can be obtained under the non-invasive condition, and a brand new non-invasive measuring thought and method are created. Due to the fact that the non-invasive pressure measuring method is adopted, the bleeding risk of preoperative puncture pressure measuring can be avoided. The method utilizes an ultrasonic technology and a radiography technology, and has the advantages of simplicity, convenience and the like.
