The method comprises the steps of obtaining a file creation moment, a file life cycle duration and a file storage path of a to-be-managed file; according to the file creation moment and the file life cycle duration, whether the to-be-managed file is expired at the current moment is judged; if the to-be-managed file is expired, obtaining a preset fault-tolerant duration of the to-be-managed file; calculating a pre-deletion moment of the to-be-managed file according to a preset fault-tolerant duration, a file creation moment and a file life cycle duration; and according to the pre-deletion moment and the file storage path, executing deletion operation of the to-be-managed file. In the file life cycle management process, by introducing a fault-tolerant mechanism, the situation that the file is deleted by mistake due to the fact that the file completely depends on a deletion rule is avoided.
