[0024] figure 1 An enlarged longitudinal sectional view of a strip 10 according to the invention is schematically shown in . The strip 10 has a carrier layer 12 and a cover layer 14 joined thereto. The carrier layer 12 is formed as a fibrous nonwoven with randomly distributed fibers. The cover layer 14 is formed as a 7 μm thick annealed aluminum film. The carrier layer 12 and the cover layer 14 are bonded to each other over the entire surface. The support layer 12 and the cover layer 14 are folded into a plurality of irregular microfolds 16, the edges of which run transversely to the stretching direction indicated by the double arrow 18 and run substantially parallel to one another. The height of the folds is less than 1mm.

Abstract

The invention relates to flexible band material (10) which comprises at least one supporting layer (12) and a covering layer (14). Said flexible band material (10) is embodied in the form of a plurality of folds (16) whose edges cross the direction of elongation (18) and are disposed substantially in a parallel position with respect to each other. The aim of the invention is to develop a water-resistant band material which is less expensive and less brittle in comparison with known materials. The supporting layer (12) is provided with organic material fibres, the covering layer (14) is embodied in the form of a sheet of ductile material, and the folds are embodied in the form of microscopic folds (16). In the preferred variant, the supporting layer (12) is embodied in the form of a nonwoven fabric and a textile fabric or a stitch fabric. The covering layer can be embodied in the form of at least two layers. The invented band material (10) can be also embodied in the form of a coating (20) made of ductile material.

Description

technical field [0001] The invention relates to a stretchable web comprising at least one support layer and a covering layer, wherein the web has a plurality of folds, the edges (folds) of each fold extending transversely to the stretching direction and substantially parallel to each other . Such tapes can be conformed to structured surfaces having unevenness, curvature or spherical curvature and applied for packaging and sealing purposes. Background technique [0002] Such a tape is known from DE 195 23 834 A1. It relates to a manually deformable covering material which is stretchable in at least one direction, the material comprising a stretchable support element having through holes and a surface-coated coating, wherein the support element has at least on its upper surface a support element bonded thereto The coating consists of a thin planar material and the coated covering material is compressed as opposed to stretched. In fact, the support element is made of softene...
