Embodiment Construction

[0011] refer to figure 1 , figure 1 Schematically shows the traditional method of manufacturing a large pressure vessel. The so-called serial shop assembly method is used. In this method, a generally cylindrical container part 2 is fixed on a railed assembly table 4 with the longitudinal axis of the part horizontal and parallel to the ground. The second part 6 is brought into bonded relationship with the first part 2 at area 8, and the two parts are then rotated under a fixed conventional welding head 10 and welded together by gas shielded metal arc welding or other low speed welding process. this is in figure 1 part of Figure 1A are shown in detail. Additional container parts are then brought into contact with each other and welded in place. Completed container 12 is erected at the construction site again, as figure 1 shown.

[0012] figure 2 The method of the invention is shown. Such as figure 2 As shown, the container parts 14, 16, 18, 20 can be vertically sta...

Abstract

Method for fabricating a vessel, comprising the steps of arranging at least two components of the vessel in a generally vertical disposition and welding the components together essentially simultaneously. The method is particularly suitable for fabrication on site of large pressure vessels used in nuclear reactors.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates generally to reactor pressure vessels. Specifically, the present invention provides a method of assembling a pressure vessel in which all vessel components are stacked vertically and welded together nearly simultaneously. Background technique [0002] Manufacturing large pressure vessels, including nuclear reactor pressure vessels, is a very time-consuming and costly process. In most cases, the speed at which pressure vessels are manufactured determines the overall plant construction project. Generally, pressure vessels are manufactured in one piece with the axis of the vessel parallel to the ground, and the components of the vessel are assembled at fixed welded joints (see figure 1 ) to rotate below. [0003] In order to compete in the industry of producing electric energy, it is necessary to build power plants with a construction period commensurate with the competition for energy production. At present, nuclear reac...
