Embodiment Construction

[0030] In order to simplify the description, the principle of the present invention is explained mainly with reference to the exemplary embodiments of the present invention. However, those skilled in the art should easily know that the same principle is also applicable to various types of digitizer systems with displays.

[0031] figure 1 The digitizing device connected to the display system according to the present invention is described in. The disclosed digitizer 100 uses a magnetic random access memory (MRAM) cell array as a stylus-based input device. The digitizer 100 is connected to the signal processor 102, which in turn is connected to the display system 104. The signal processor 102 receives signals from the digitizer 100 and processes them for display on the video display 104. The digitizer 100 also includes a control logic 105, which is used to control the digitizer 100 in operations such as array reading, array writing, and array clearing, which is familiar to those s...

Abstract

An integrated digitizing tablet and display apparatus 200 is disclosed. The digitizing tablet portion 100 of the apparatus is comprised of an array of magnetic random access memory (MRAM) cells 212, wherein each MRAM cell 212 is responsive to an externally applied magnetic field 112. Each memory cell 212 has a magnetic bit that changes orientation upon application of an externally applied magnetic field to produce an electrical signal based on the orientation of the bit when a second field to produce an electrical signal based on the orientation of the bit when a second electric field is applied across the array. The display 104 is comprised of an array of pixel cells 216 and each pixel cell 216 is coupled to one of the MRAM cells 212. The MRAM cell 212 activates the pixel cell 216 by the electrical signal produced by the MRAM cell 212. Thus, what is achieved is an integrated digitizing tablet and display 200 that has digitizing cells 212 that directly control the display cells 216 without the need for additional processors.

Description

[0001] In the co-pending United States patent application number _____ (HP file number 10019665-1) entitled "Stylus-based input device using magnetic random access memory array" and entitled "Integrated digital tablet and color display device and Two other applications for magnetic random access memory arrays are described in the co-pending US Patent Application No. _____ (HP File No. 100200450-1) of "Method of Operation", the disclosures of which are incorporated herein by reference. Technical field [0002] The present invention generally relates to a digital input device, and in particular, the present invention relates to the application of a magnetic random access memory (MRAM) device as a digital array in a digitizer device integrated with a display system. Background technique [0003] The digitizer system is familiar to those skilled in the art. Electromagnetic arrays or other types of systems usually respond to the stylus used by the user in order to directly input data o...
