Problems solved by technology

When an MBMS user moves between cells, the transmission of the new cell that the user moves into is either before or after the transmission of another cell. Therefore, the MBMS user may miss MBMS data or receive useless redundant MBMS data.

Embodiment Construction

[0014] Although the preferred embodiment is described in conjunction with the 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) Wideband Code Division Multiple Access (W-CDMA) system, the embodiment is also applicable to any wireless system using MBMS, after which the WTRU ( WTRU) includes, but is not limited to, a user equipment, mobile base station, fixed or mobile subscriber unit, pager, or any form of device capable of operating in a wireless environment.

[0015] figure 1 It is a flow chart for MBMS channel switching. In a particular cell, the number of WTRUs using the service is determined or estimated in step 20. Typically, this information is known. Using the number of WTRUs in the cell and / or other cell information, such as cell status, available cell resources, etc., the choice of whether to use dedicated channels or common / shared channels or both, i.e. step twenty two. After the channel selection is decided, the MBMS data will be mapped to the corresponding channel, ie s...

Abstract

The present application is comprised of a radio access network and a method for transmitting Multimedia Broadcast / Multicast Service (MBMS) using channel switching between dedicated and shared / shared channels. This application also includes MBMS reception scheduling for use when a wireless transmission / reception device receives an MBMS service from multiple transmission sources. The source transmits the MBMS service data in a different order. In one embodiment it uses in-band segment information, while in another it uses out-of-band synchronization information.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention generally relates to wireless communication systems, and in particular, the present invention relates to channel switching and scheduling of multimedia broadcast and multicast services in such systems. Background technique [0002] The demand for using Multimedia Broadcast / Multicast Service (MBMS) in wireless communication systems is increasing. For a specific MBMS, a granted cell in the network may have none, one, or more users, wireless transmission / reception units (WTRUs) while using the MBMS. When users migrate between cells, a cell that may have one or no users using the service may later have multiple users using the service, conversely, a cell that has multiple users using the service at one point At another time there may be only one or no users. [0003] Migration of users results in inefficient use of radio resources. If there is only one or few users using the MBMS in the cell, it is desirable for users to use dedica...
