Embodiment Construction

[0055] figure 1 Three tapered dental files 12, 14 and 16 of different sizes are shown, each divided into alpha and beta sections. These represent the multi-taper files in my prior application No. PCT / US02 / 03516. The files disclosed in the application include two different taper angles in the alpha and beta regions, with angle-specific changes occurring at the alpha and beta junctions.

[0056] figure 2 and 3 Different embodiments of the invention are schematically represented. figure 2 One particular file 18 is depicted having a leading tip 20 and cutting grooves 22a-22d. The change in taper angle from one cut groove to the next is continuous in the form of a parabolic curve, indicated by profile 24 . The alpha and beta portions of the file have different taper angles, and the change in taper from the alpha portion to the beta portion continues over the rounded curvilinear shape.

Abstract

A series of multi-tapered parabolic implements (18) is disclosed for endodontic use. The implements comprise different sections: a pilot tip (20), a first portion ( alpha ) adjacent the pilot tip and a second portion ( beta ) adjacent the shank. The two portions have different tapers. The tapers of the two different portions blend into each other along a parabola-shaped surface.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates to endodontic tools, in particular, to cutting burs for use in the production of ideal entrance preparations in the root canal system of human teeth and for enlarging and reducing the size of root canals present therein. Shaped shaped files so they can be prepared for filling. Background technique [0002] A relatively common but difficult dental procedure is accessing and cleaning, shaping, and filling the root canals of human teeth that have become diseased. In the performance of a root canal procedure, a hole is first cut in the coronal or exposed portion of the tooth, typically in the chewing surface of the tooth for posterior teeth, or on the side of the tooth on the interior of the jaw for incisors. [0003] The creation of an ideal access form is difficult with existing cutting tools, especially preparing an ideal access path for a handle-driven file to enter the root canal effortlessly. Since there is no relative...
