Abstract

A system in a telecommunications network for providing detailed information about a calling party making a call from a mobile calling facility to a special number service station, comprising: (a) an information store for storing a body of information including identified is detailed information about the calling party; and (b) an interface unit connected to and communicating with at least an information memory and a special number service station. The interface unit responds to the inquiry of identifying the calling means from the special number service station by acquiring the detailed information from the information memory, and transmits the detailed information to the special number service station.

Background technique [0001] The present invention relates to telecommunication networks, and more particularly to telecommunication networks involving calls from a mobile calling facility to a special number service station. An example of such a call from a mobile calling tool to a special number service station is in an emergency services calling system from a mobile phone, from a Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) calling tool, or from other wireless or mobile devices to an emergency services station such as Calls to the Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP).
