Problems solved by technology

[0003] But one problem with the litter box pressing arrangement disclosed in this patent specification is that the mechanism for effecting the pressing is exposed and does not provide an attractive arrangement for the user, especially where the litter box is likely to be used in a domestic setting
[0004] Yet another problem is to provide an assembly and a bin that allows for efficient mechanisms that can also be configured to provide good pressing pressure and shut down the device

Embodiment Construction

[0034] Referring now to the drawings, and in particular to FIG. 1 , a pressed lid assembly 1 includes a rim 2 adapted to interlock with the upper perimeter of a waste bin 4 .

[0035] The edge 2 is adapted to be fastened firmly to the dustbin 4 . This is done by a pair of downwardly and inwardly extending lips 3 on either side of the assembly, defining a channel 2a which engages a lip 5 in the opening of most conventional domestic 'kitchen' bins made of plastic.

[0036] Those skilled in the relevant art will appreciate that while the assembly is shown as a unit adapted to be removably attached to a waste bin, it may also be provided in the form of a waste bin with such units permanently attached.

[0037] An upper cover 6 is provided to close the opening of the dustbin, and a lower presser 8 is provided to press the contents inside the dustbin 9 during closing when the lid 6 is closed.

[0038] The edge 2, with a high back 10 on the edge, allows both the cover 6 and the pres...

Abstract

A rubbish receptacle or bin (1) including a container (4) with an uppermost lid (6) which is connected to the container by a pivot connection (14) about an axis so that it can assume, by being pivoted about its pivot connection, a closed position with respect to an otherwise open top of the container (4) and in a further open position whereby access for introduction of rubbish into the container can be achieved, characterised in that there is a compactor (8) which is located so as to be below the lid (6) when the lid is in a closed position with respect to the otherwise open top of the container (4).

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates to a refuse pressing cover assembly for a refuse bin or a refuse bin with a refuse pressing device. Background technique [0002] Previous attempts have been made to design litter bins with lids that include means for compressing the contents of the bins. There are several examples in prior patent specifications, eg patent WO97 / 43196 (not considered to be common general knowledge) which discloses such a litter box. [0003] But one problem with the litter box pressing arrangement disclosed in this patent specification is that the mechanism for effecting the pressing is exposed and does not provide an attractive arrangement for the user, especially where the litter box is likely to be used in a domestic setting. [0004] There is also the further problem of providing an assembly and a waste bin which allows for an efficient mechanism which can also be arranged to provide good pressing pressure and closure of the device. ...
