The system 12 includes a room appliance control device 14 that is accessible to an occupant of the room 10 and which is operably communicated with at least one appliance 16. The appliances 16 illustrated in the exemplary embodiment of FIG. 1 include a heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) unit 18 and a lighting system 20. However, it should be appreciated that any appliance (such as a TV, VCR, stereo, phone, computer, or DVD player) used in an individual unit of a multi-unit building may be associated with the system 12.
