Paper gift wrap is typically ripped and damaged when the gift is opened and therefore discarded after a single use. Rigid boxes are difficult to store, so they too are frequently thrown away. In some jurisdictions it is possible to recycle some of these paper and cardboard materials, but in many instances, gift wrap materials are discarded and incinerated with other garbage. Gift wrap made from virgin pulp requires the cutting of our forestland.
