Abstract

An excitation controller for a non-excitation actuating brake is provided to stabilize an operation by using a simple circuit constitution. An excitation controller for a non-excitation actuating brake includes a signal forming circuit, a signal coupler, and a switching circuit. The signal forming circuit(12) is used for forming signals corresponding to an energized state of the motor. The signal coupler(13) includes a light emitting element and a power generating light receiving element which is a photo-electric coupler showing slow output falling characteristics and which photo-electrically gives and receives signals by being imparted to the output of the signal forming circuit. The switching circuit(15) is inserted between the power supply and the brake, which is turned ON when the output signal of the signal coupler is imparted, and which feeds power from the power supply to the electromagnetic brake.
