Embodiment Construction

[0016] Referring now to the drawings, and more particularly to FIG. 1 , there is shown a block diagram of an apparatus 100 in accordance with an exemplary embodiment of the present invention. As shown in FIG. 1 , the device 100 includes: a signal receiving device such as a signal receiving element 10, a tuning device such as a tuner 20, an intermediate frequency (IF) processing device such as an intermediate frequency (IF) processing block 30, such as an analog-to-digital converter ( ADC) 40 analog-to-digital conversion means, video processing means such as video processing block 50 , and audio processing means such as audio processing block 60 . Some of the above elements of FIG. 1 may be implemented using integrated circuits (ICs), and for example, some elements may be included on one or more ICs. For clarity of description, some conventional elements related to the apparatus 100 are not shown in FIG. 1 , such as certain control signals, power signals, clock signals and / or o...

Abstract

An apparatus (100), such as a television signal receiver, processes a pilot signal to enable proper generation of an L-R stereo difference signal and the like. According to an exemplary embodiment, the apparatus (100) comprises: a signal source (702) for providing a pilot signal; and a processing circuit (704-724) for processing the pilot signal to generate a signal having an AC component and a DC component The first processed pilot signal. The processing circuits (704-724) use the DC component to control the signal parameters of the AC component and generate a second processed pilot signal, using which L-R stereo difference signal can be generated.

Description

[0001] Cross References to Related Applications [0002] This application claims priority to, and all rights arising from, Provisional Application with Assignment Serial No. 60 / 572,929 filed May 20, 2004 in the United States Patent and Trademark Office. technical field [0003] The present invention relates generally to signal processing for use in apparatus such as television signal receivers, and more particularly to apparatus and methods for processing pilot signals, which enable proper generation of L-R stereo difference signals, and the like. Background technique [0004] Devices such as television signal receivers and radios may use digital signal processing to generate certain signals, including audio signals. For example, these devices can generate an L-R stereo difference signal using a digital demodulation technique that is simple product demodulation. In order to properly generate the L-R stereo difference signal using simple product demodulation, it may be neces...
