Embodiment Construction

[0044] The following is a more detailed exemplary description of the present invention. Various changes and modifications within the spirit and scope of the invention will be apparent to those skilled in the relevant art from these descriptions.

[0045] Such as Figure 1a As shown, the smart card 103 is connected with the portable card reader 104 to generate a dynamic password. The smart card 103 consists of a chip 105 which is electronically connected via a slot 108 of the card reader 104 . Utilize the button 109 on the card reader 104 to start the special program in the smart card 103, calculate the dynamic password, and it is transferred in the card reader 104. The card reader 104 then displays this code on the display 107 in the form of 4 digits (100). Obviously, any number of digits or other symbols may be generated. That is, the system is not limited to generating traditional four-digit codes.

Abstract

The system consists of smart card for generating one time password (OTP), device for creating OTP, authentication server, windows fault-tolerance authentication and synchronization method. The personal ID information and OTP are transmitted to authentication system through network. The authentication system selects one or more possible examining passwords from a large group of examining passwords to build up a smaller group of examining password. The received OTP is compared with the smaller group of examining password; if the OTP is in the smaller group the authentication of the use is passed.

Description

technical field [0001] The invention relates to a technology for generating a dynamic password based on a smart card, in particular to an authentication method for identifying user identities in computer and network communication systems using the technology. Background technique [0002] In today's world, the application of information systems has reached the state of ubiquity. Almost any organization needs to use various communication networks for its internal employees and external customers to obtain various services provided by its application systems. Therefore, how to Confirming the identity of the user becomes a crucial issue. [0003] In the network communication environment, unlike traditional face-to-face communication, people can no longer use ID cards, seals, signatures and other physical tokens to confirm the user's identity. Therefore, a method of agreeing a set of personal identification code (PIN) and password (PASSWORD) in advance between each user and the...
