Embodiment Construction

[0062] In order to solve the deficiencies of the prior art, a method and device for imaging an object will be described below. Imaging an object may be based on chords filling at least a part (eg, all, or more) of a region of interest (ROI). The ROI can be two-dimensional, three-dimensional, or n-dimensional. The chord used for reconstruction may be a line between two points, such as a straight line or part of a curve. The points defining the chord may be based on any aspect related to imaging, examples of which may include (but are not limited to) the trajectory of the source or a Cartesian coordinate system, as detailed below. By decomposing at least a portion of the ROI (eg, the entire ROI) into chords, an image can be reconstructed based on the set of chords. For example, various methods such as chords can be used to reconstruct a two-dimensional or three-dimensional ROI include Back Projection Filtering (BPF) method, Minimum Filtered Back Projection (MFBP) method, and F...

Abstract

A method and apparatus for reconstruction of a region of interest for an object is provided. The reconstruction of the object may be based on chords which may fill a part, all, or more than all of the region of interest. Using chords for reconstruction may allow for reducing data acquired and / or processing for reconstructing a substantially exact image of the ROI. Moreover, various methodologies may be used in reconstructing the image, such as backprojection-filtration, and modified filtration backprojection.
