Abstract

An exhaust gas purifying apparatus for an internal combustion engine (1) comprises a casing (15) which forms a part of an exhaust passage (14) of the internal combustion engine and houses therein an occlusion-reduction type NOx catalyst (12, 13) and a reducing agent supply device (11) which supplies a reducing agent to an interior of the casing on an upstream side of the NOx catalyst. The reducing agent supply device injects the reducing agent in a flat form in a direction intersecting a center line (CL) of the NOx catalyst from a nozzle hole (11a) disposed in the casing.
