Problems solved by technology

As mentioned above, the disadvantages associated with integrated printing systems are the need to control multiple print modules and individual media paths simultaneously
When integrating more printing modules, the whole document generation system is more complicated
Therefore, complex controller systems become necessary to schedule the operation of each printing module and to cope with unplanned events such as jams, shutdowns, printer endless loops, etc.

Abstract

The invention discloses a printing medium interposer system and method. The print media interposer system includes two or more interposer modules, one or more interface modules, and a controller. The interposer module is adapted to receive one or more input stacks of print media from one or more printing systems. Subsequently, the print media interposer system merges the received print media input stacks in a predetermined order.

Description

technical field [0001] The present disclosure relates to a xerographic printing system. More specifically, it relates to a printing system including an interpolator for editing the output of a plurality of independent printing systems. However, it should be understood that this exemplary embodiment is also suitable for other similar applications. Background technique [0002] A cluster printing system provides a document generation system where multiple printers are combined into 'virtual' printers via task decomposition software. In order to edit printouts from multiple printers, the user must manually reassemble the output. Disadvantages associated with this type of manual system include a relatively slow editing process and opportunities for error during the editing phase. [0003] Another approach for providing a document generation system that includes multiple printers is to integrate the printing system. These integrated printing systems physically combine multipl...
