[0008] The present invention is directed to a power boost system and method that can temporarily boost power to a vehicle's driving system when needed. The power boost system includes an operator activated power boost operator interface, which may be a switch, button, or menu provided on the instrument panel or other selectable location on the vehicle. Power Boost Operator Interface Selectively Activated Launch Operation Strategy, which temporarily boosts vehicle power to assist in short-term high power demand situations such as towing and hauling. The change in vehicle performance caused by activation of the power boost operator interface is temporary and, in some embodiments, is set to time out automatically. In other embodiments, the change in vehicle performance is controlled by a software logic program that terminates the high power mode of the vehicle when the program determines that additional power is no longer required.
