The method can transmit a file provided by a file providing end to a file receiving end in a file format supported by the file receiving end through a network. The file converting system comprises a receiving module, a converting module, a database module and a transmitting module, wherein the receiving module can receive the file provided by the file providing end; the converting module can convert the file into the file format supported by the file receiving end; the database module records general situation of the file receiving end, wherein the general situation comprises the file format supported by the file receiving end; and the transmitting module can transmit the file to the file receiving end through the network. If the file receiving end does not support the file format of the file, the converting module can convert the file into the file format supported by the file receiving end according to the general situation of the file receiving end, so as to make the transmitting module transmit the file to the file receiving end.
