Problems solved by technology

However, known channel adaptation procedures may not provide efficient channel adaptation for some systems
For example, one or more of these procedures may have the disadvantage of taking considerable time, which may result in brief service interruptions in rapidly changing channel situations

[0020] review

[0021] The following description describes various implementations that involve updating one or more channel adaptation parameters associated with a transceiver device or similar device. One such exemplary parameter is the Bit Allocation Table (BAT). In one implementation, a receiving transceiver may determine that one or more tones associated with a multicarrier arrangement should be allocated different numbers of bits and / or amounts of gain. For convenience, this information is referred to herein as a partial BAT update. Instead of a lengthy exchange of control messages between the initiating and sending transceivers, the receiving transceiver can pack or piggyback part of the BAT update information within an existing frame format. In one implementation, this partial BAT update information can be packaged in a short management message carried in the payload of a frame that contains a data structure that is only stored in the sending and receiving Those ton...

Abstract

The present invention relates to channel adaptation for multicarrier arrangement. Implementations related to updating channel adaptation parameters are described. In one implementation, an R2T frame, such as an acknowledgment (ACK) frame, is modified to carry a partial bit allocation table (BAT). The R2T frame may be received by a transceiver apparatus and the partial BAT carried in the header or extended header(s) of R2T frame may be used to update a BAT stored in the transceiver. In another implementation, a message frame is modified to carry a partial BAT. The message frame may be received by a transceiver apparatus and the partial BAT used to update a BAT stored in the transceiver. A unique identification number generated by the receiving transceiver apparatus may be used to synchronize BATs stored in two communicating transceivers without necessity of exchanging additional control messages.

Description

[0001] This application claims priority to US Provisional Application 61 / 291,325, filed December 30, 2009, entitled "Channel Adaptation for Multicarrier Arrangement Fast Channel Adaptation Mechanism for OFDM-based Packet Transmission Systems." technical field [0002] The present invention relates to channel adaptation for multi-carrier arrangement, in particular to a channel adaptation method and device for multi-carrier arrangement and a transceiver device capable of multi-carrier modulation. Background technique [0003] Due to the remarkable progress in the ability to deliver IP-based rich multimedia services in broadband networks, various packet-based communication technologies (such as ITU G.hn, HomePNA, AV and Multimedia over Coax Alliance (MoCA)) are becoming more and more important. As demand for such services increases, service providers are looking for improved ways to distribute digital content in consumers' homes. The techniques described above are designed sp...
