Embodiment Construction

[0012] figure 1 Is a security system 10 for securing a secure area 12 generally shown in accordance with the illustrative embodiment. One or more inner secure areas 14 , 16 may be included within the secure area 12 . Generally, the security area 12 may include a first area 16 with the highest security level, a second security area 14 with the next highest security level, and a third outer security area 12 .

[0013] Each of the secure areas 12 , 14 , 16 is accessible through one or more entry points 18 , 20 , 22 , 24 , 26 . Each of said entry points 18 , 20 , 22 , 24 , 26 includes at least one identification reading device 28 for requesting entry to the respective secure area 12 , 14 , 16 . Each of said entry points 18 , 20 , 22 , 24 , 26 may further comprise a second identification reading device 30 for exiting the respective secure area 12 , 14 , 16 .

[0014] The security system 10 also includes a security panel 32 . figure 2 Details of the security panel 32 are shown....

Abstract

The present invention relates to an access control system based upon behavioral patterns. A method and apparatus for detecting behavioral changes in a security system is provided. The method includes the steps of providing a secured area having a plurality of security zones where access to each is controlled by an access controller, detecting entrances to at least some of the plurality of security zones by an authorized person through respective access controllers of the plurality of zones over a predetermined previous time period, forming a probability model of entry into each of the plurality of security zones from the detected entrances over the previous time period, detecting access requests for the authorized user from the access controllers during a current time period, and generating a security alert upon determining that an access request of the current access requests exceeds a probability threshold value associated with the probability model.

Description

technical field [0001] The field of the invention relates to security systems and in particular to methods of detecting physical entry into a protected space. Background technique [0002] Security systems are generally known. Such systems are typically used in conjunction with secure areas to protect assets and / or personnel within the secure area. [0003] The secured area is typically protected with physical barriers (eg, walls, fences, etc.) extending along the perimeter of the secured area. One or more access points may be provided along the physical barrier allowing authorized personnel to enter the secured area. [0004] The entry points may include some sort of physical entry point (eg, a door) through which both personnel and materials may pass to enter and exit the secure area. Each of the entry points may be equipped with a reading device (eg, a card reader, etc.) and an access control device (eg, an electronic trigger lock) that controls the opening of the door...
