The method includes: a wireless router device detecting that an upgrading server has the latest version matched with the wireless router device; the wireless router device intercepting a message sent from user equipment, and in the situation where it is determined that the message is a browser service request, redirecting the browser service back to the upgrading server stored with the latest version; and downloading the latest version from the upgrading server and performing an update operation. By way of the present invention, the user himself need not perform manual upgrade and there is also no need to install a resident program on the PC, that is to say, the latest version matching the wireless router device can be selected automatically for downloading and updating, thus improving user experience.
