Benefits of technology

This invention relates to an improved type called Montmorillonites that can be used for purifying gases like nitrogen oxides (NOx). These modifications improve their ability to absorb certain substances from gas streams by making them better at capturing these compounds compared with other types of materials commonly found on silica gel columns or activated carbon powders.

Problems solved by technology

Technological Problem addressed in this patented technical problem involves modifying naturally occurringly isolated or synthesized clay layers containing various types of metal ion(Mn+) without affecting their ability to bind specific substances like pesticides from crops. Existing treatments involve multiple steps involving different chemical agents, leading to increased costs and reduced efficiency. To address these issues, new materials called nanoclay were developed based upon certain properties found within them. These modifications made improve the binding capabilities between metallate anions and target molecules while reducing complexity involved in manufacturing processes.

Embodiment 1

[0087] The purification of embodiment 1 montmorillonite

[0088] After the natural montmorillonite is dried and crushed, add water to prepare a 10% suspension, add 0.5% sodium pyrophosphate at the same time, soak for 24 hours, and homogenize at 1000rpm for 20 minutes. Then stand still for 5 minutes, siphon filter to remove large slag, then centrifuge, discard the liquid, dry the obtained montmorillonite (MMT) at 80°C, grind, and pass through a 100-mesh sieve.

Embodiment 2

[0089] The acidification of embodiment 2 montmorillonite

[0090] Press MMT:H 2 SO 4 20% sulfuric acid solution was added to the purified montmorillonite at a ratio of 1:5. Shake in a water bath at a temperature of about 80-90°C for 4 hours, filter and wash to pH=6-7, and then dry at 80°C to obtain acidified montmorillonite, which is denoted as HMMT.

Embodiment 3

[0091] The sodium of embodiment 3 montmorillonite

[0092] Prepare 1% NaCl solution, then press HMMT: NaCl (aq) =1:50 was added to HMMT, stirred continuously at 60°C for 6 hours, filtered and washed to pH=6-7, and dried at 80°C to obtain sodium-based montmorillonite, which was set aside.

Abstract

Disclosed is modified montmorillonite capable of adsorbing zearalenone. Natural montmorillonite is pretreated in processes including acid activation and the like and then reacts with cetyl trimethyl ammonium bromide to obtain the modified montmorillonite. A pH (potential of hydrogen) value is found out to be the most important factor after deep research on various factors affecting a modification effect. In addition, use level of modifier, modification temperature and duration are also important. Accordingly, an optimal modification condition is realized. X-ray diffraction of the montmorillonite before and after modification, Fourier transform infrared analysis, scanning electron microscope analysis and various adsorption tests show that the modified montmorillonite excellently adsorbs the zearalenone, is unaffected by nutrients during adsorption, and is suitable to be used as a feed additive.
