In contrast to the two outer current paths L1 and L3, the two inner current paths L21 and L22 are connected in parallel. The phase current of the intermediate current phase is thus divided into two pass currents i21 and i22. The two outer phase currents are not split, and thus pass currents i1 and i3 are equal. As a result of this measure, the rated current-carrying capacity of the switching device is overall increased.
