Abstract

The invention provides a method and a system of remotely controlling a set top box by a cellphone. The cellphone broadcasts, transmits and obtains media access control (MAC) address request information of each set top box in a same local area network; each set top box responds to the MAC address request information which is sent by the cellphone, and returns MAC address information; after the cellphone receives the MAC address information which is returned by each set top box, the cellphone generates a remotely control set top box list of the returned MAC address. Based on local area network interaction technology and MAC address recognition technology, by the adoption of the technical scheme of remote control operation of the set top box of the same local area network by the cellphone, the method and the system provide a remote control operating scheme which is convenient, simple and direct.
