Embodiment Construction

[0060] figure 1 One embodiment of an aerosol generating system with a liquid storage portion is shown; in figure 1 In , the system is an electrically operated smoking system. figure 1 The smoking system 100 includes a housing 101 having a first end being a mouthpiece end 103 and a second end being a body end 105 . In the body end, a power source in the form of a battery 107 and circuitry in the form of hardware 109 and a puff detection system 111 are provided. In the mouthpiece end, a liquid storage portion in the form of a cartridge 113 containing a liquid 115 , a capillary wick 117 and a heater 119 are provided. Note that the heater in the figure 1 are shown schematically only. exist figure 1 In the exemplary embodiment shown in , one end of the capillary wick 117 extends into the cartridge 113 and the other end of the capillary wick 117 is surrounded by a heater 119 . The heater is connected to the circuit via a connection 121 which can pass along the outside of the b...

Abstract

There is provided an aerosol generating system for heating a liquid aerosol-forming substrate. The system comprises: an aerosol-forming chamber (127); and leakage prevention means (305,307) configured to prevent or reduce leakage of liquid aerosol condensate from the aerosol generating system. The leakage prevention means may comprise one or more of: at least one cavity in a wall of the aerosol-forming chamber, for collecting droplets of condensed liquid aerosol-forming substrate; at least one hooked member for collecting droplets of condensed liquid aerosol-forming substrate; an impactor for disrupting airflow in the aerosol-forming chamber so as to collect liquid droplets; and a closure member for substantially sealing the aerosol-forming chamber when the aerosol generating system is not in use.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates to an aerosol generating system. In particular, the present invention relates to an aerosol generating system wherein the aerosol-forming substrate is a liquid. Background technique [0002] WO2009 / 132793A discloses an electric heating smoking system. The liquid is stored in the liquid storage portion and the capillary wick has a first end extending into the liquid storage portion for contacting the liquid therein and a second end extending from the liquid storage portion . A heating element heats the second end of the capillary wick. A heating element is in the form of a helically wound electric heating element electrically connected to a power source and surrounding the second end of the capillary wick. In use, the heating element can be activated by the user turning on the power. The user's draw on the mouthpiece causes air to be drawn into the electrically heated smoking system, past the capillary wick and heating...
