The method includes the following steps that (1) according to a stratum loss ratio adopted in a model test, the length and diameter of a needed tunnel deformation device are obtained through calculation, the tunnel deformation device is formed by an inner cylinder and an outer cylinder, the inner cylinder simulates the tunnel design size, and the outer cylinder simulates the tunnel excavation size; (2) the inner cylinder is inserted into the outer cylinder, a gap between the inner cylinder and the outer cylinder is sealed, and then the tunnel deformation device is fixedly installed to a model test device; (3) the model test device is filled with model materials, a simulation structure is installed, and a measuring apparatus is installed at last; (4) collection and zeroing carried out on the measuring apparatus are completed, the outer cylinder is drawn out to conduct a test, the outer cylinder is drawn away to enable the simulation materials to fall into the gap between the inner cylinder and the outer cylinder, and stratum loss caused by tunnel construction is simulated.
