Abstract

The invention relates to the field of BIOS Setup option setting on a server and out-of-band management and discloses a realizing method for modifying the BIOS Setup option out of band. An out-of-band management chip (BMC) is arranged on a server mainboard. The source code of a BIOS and the source code of BMCfirmware are obtained. The BIOS and the BMC utilize standard IPMI instructions to interchange information in the system POST process, so that a user enables the BMC to check and set the Setup option. The method achieves the purposes that the BIOS Setup option is checked and modified in a BMCWeb interface, the system ease of use is improved, and an Ipmitool is used for checking and modifying the BIOS Setup option in the commandline environment. The method can be realized locally or at a far end, brings convenience to users, and improves the system ease of use.
