Abstract

The application provides an image matching method. The image matching method comprises the following steps: segmenting an input template image by a computer to obtain template sub-areas which are not superposed and are the same in size, and generating the histogram of each template sub-area; segmenting images to be matched in an image database to obtain sub-areas to be matched, which are not superposed and are the same in size, and generating the histogram of each sub-area to be matched; according to the features of the histogram of each template sub-area, matching the histograms of the template sub-areas with the histograms of the sub-areas to be matched in the corresponding to-be-matched sub-area group one by one to obtain the matching result; and when the matching result meets preset similar conditions, judging that the template image and the images to be matched are similar, or else, judging that the template image and the images to be matched are not similar. Hence, the matching result is obtained by the computer by matching the features of the histograms, thus judging whether the two images are similar or not; manual search is not needed any more during searching of the target image, thus saving labour and search time, and increasing working efficiency.
