Abstract

There is provided an electronic shelf labeling (ESL) system including a plurality of ESL tags displaying merchandise item information; and a gateway providing the plurality of ESL tags with update data for the merchandise item information and transmitting wireless power to at least a portion of the plurality of ESL tags by using wireless communications, wherein the at least a portion of the plurality of ESL tags are charged with the wireless power.
