The invention provides an IP router processing method and device based on an ASON optical network. A broadcasting sub-network is built on the ASON optical network. The method comprises: a first IP backbone router receives an IP packet sent by a first access network; on the basis of an IP destination address in the IP packet, and according to the longest prefix match principle, a local router information database query is done, and if multiple items of a router table are matched with the IP destination address, one of the multiple items is picked as the optimal router table item and an IP backbone router of the optimal router table item is notified to be a second IP backbone router; a local backbone router table query is done, and if an identifier of an ASON connection of the first IP backbone router to the second IP backbone router exists, the IP packet is sent to the second IP backbone router via the ASON connection according to the identifier, so that the IP packet received by the second IP backbone router is sent to a second access network.
