The embodiment of the invention discloses a method for controlling communication service by using an online charging system. The method comprises the following steps: receiving an authorization request message sent by a service network element, wherein the authorization request message comprises a user number of the communication service and communication service type information; inquiring whether a service control strategy rule with participation of the user number is generated; judging whether permitting a user with the user number identifier to use the communication service according to a service subscription relationship and the participated service control strategy rule of the user number if the service control strategy rule with participation of the user number is generated; permitting the user to use the communication service in response and pricing the communication service and operating the balance; or permitting the user not to use the communication service in response and returning a credit control response message for refusing authorizing to the service network element. The method for controlling communication service by using the online charging system can be used for implementing individualized control of the communication service.
