Abstract

A device (100) for medically sealing a perivalvular leak associated with implanted valves includes a bioresorbable tissue infiltratable sheet (116) for insertion through a perivalvular leak. A filament (122) extending through the sheet (116) is also provided which when pulled causes the sheet (116) to gather around the filament (122) on either side of the perivalvular leak. The gathered position of the sheet (116) may be secured by a series of stops and/or use of a capping member (200).

Description

[0001] Cross References to Related Applications [0002] This application claims the benefit of US Provisional Application No. 61 / 924,813, filed January 8, 2014, which is incorporated herein by reference. technical field [0003] The present disclosure relates to a device and method for sealing a paravalvular leak associated with an implanted heart valve. In particular, a device and method are disclosed for percutaneously closing and promoting healing of an opening between a native valve annulus and a wall of an implanted valve. Background technique [0004] The human heart is part of a highly muscular vasculature defining four chambers: the right atrium, right ventricle, left atrium, and left ventricle. Each lumen is associated with a one-way valve for controlling the direction of blood flow. Blood flow is driven by the pressure generated by the regular contraction (systole) and relaxation (diastole) of the heart muscle. Contraction of the muscles surrounding the ventric...
