Problems solved by technology

[0013] However, while implementing the above strategy to achieve diversity, the gains of the individual transport channels may not be properly adjusted relative to each other
Specifically, the power of the received signal on each transmission channel may not be equalized, so this diversity technique may not be directly applicable

Embodiment Construction

[0032] Referring now to the drawings, wherein like numerals designate like or corresponding parts throughout the several views.

[0033] figure 1is an exemplary block diagram representing a MIMO system according to one embodiment. The MIMO system includes: a base station 100 including N transmitters 110 , 120 . . . 190 ; and a receiver (mobile terminal) 200 . figure 1 An example is shown in which the transmitter is included in a base station 100 such as a wireless telephone system, and the receiver 200 is a receiver included in a portable mobile terminal.

[0034] In a MIMO communication system, multiple antennas are included on the transmitting side and the receiving side. In typical MIMO communication, the number of antennas on the transmit side is equal to the number of antennas on the receive side. However, in this embodiment, the number of receiver antennas is lower than the number of transmit antennas. Specifically, the transmitting side is equipped with N transmitti...

Abstract

Disclosed is an MIMO communication method. In a multi-input multi-output MIMO communication system, a method achieving diversity is disclosed. Compared with the number of emitting antennas, the less number of receiving antennas is possessed by the MIMO communication system. In the MIMO communication system, a switch of a receiver antenna is selectively selected by using and based on the signal to noise ratio of signals captured by the receiving antennas. Alternatively, the signals received by the various receiving antennas are combined so as to achieve combined diversity.
