The focusing method comprises the following steps of detecting that a camera shooting function of the mobile terminal is started; acquiring and storing the distance between a current camera and an object to be shot by using the distance sensor; judging a current distance between the camera and the object to be shot is the same with a previous distance between the camera and the object to be shot or not by using the distance sensor; inquiring a pre-stored focusing fine adjustment range table so as to obtain a fine adjustment range of a motor according to the current distance if the current distance between the camera and the object to be short is the same with the previous distance between the camera and the object to be shot; controlling movement of the motor in the fine adjustment range; acquiring images in real time; acquiring focusing values of the images acquired by the motor moving at different positions in the fine adjustment range; and controlling the motor to move to a position at which the focusing value is maximum so as to finish focusing. When the object moves, the focusing system is triggered to focus; and because the focusing fine adjustment range is preset, an optimal focal distance can be found out by comparing a few of frames of images, the focusing speed is increased, and the focusing method and the focusing system bring convenience to a user when the user takes photos.
