Embodiment Construction

[0065] The interference at the base station receiver antenna input consists of three components: (a) intra-cell interference manifested as the sum of the WCDMA uplink waveforms of all femtocell users; (b) represented by all user equipment not communicating with the base station Inter-cell interference of the sum of WCDMA waveforms (eg, user equipment associated with other base stations); and (c) thermal noise.

[0066] Various embodiments relate to canceling uplink interference caused by inter-cell equipment (user equipment) via assistance from neighboring base stations. In a particular embodiment, a base station that is a small cell device (e.g., femtocell, picocell, etc.) is configured to use assistance information from neighboring base stations Uplink interference caused by UEs associated with a cell, macro cell, etc.). Correspondingly, the interfering inter-cell UE's transmission may be decoded from the received waveform (signal) using the assistance information to cancel...

Abstract

A method of managing uplink interference at a base station includes: detecting uplink interference caused by one or more inter-cell user equipments to an uplink channel of a base station, the one or more inter-cell user equipments associated with a neighboring base station; receiving, at the base station, assistance information from the neighboring base station, the assistance information comprising a parameter list of ongoing transmissions by the one or more user equipments associated with the neighboring base station; and performing uplink interference cancellation, at the base station, on at least a portion of a received signal based on the assistance information to generate a resulting signal.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates generally to wireless systems and methods, and more particularly, to systems and methods for managing uplink inter-cell interference. Background technique [0002] Wireless communication systems are widely deployed to provide various types of communication content such as, for example, voice, data, and so on. A typical wireless communication system may be a multiple access system capable of supporting communication with multiple users by sharing available system resources (eg, bandwidth, transmit power, etc.). Examples of these multiple-access systems may include Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) systems, Time Division Multiple Access (TDMA) systems, Frequency Division Multiple Access (FDMA) systems, Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiple Access (OFDMA) systems, and so forth. Furthermore, these systems may comply with specifications such as 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP), 3GPP Long Term Evolution (LTE), Ultr...
