[0023] This application proposes a brand new wireless communication network architecture. In this network architecture, mobile devices can roam freely without going through traditional handover. Handover in traditional IP wireless communication networks usually involves operations at two layers, usually referred to as layer-2 handover and layer-3 handover. Layer-2 handover operations include channel probing, user authentication, channel association, and creation of new encryption keys. The operations of a layer-3 handover include obtaining a new IP address, establishing a new tunnel, user authentication, and location update. It usually takes 3 to 15 seconds to perform the switchover. Many packets are thus lost during the handover.
