An automatic seedling taking and sending system of a transplanting machine comprises a seedling box, a seedling ejecting mechanism, a transverse seedling sending device, a longitudinal seedling sending device and a transmission system which are arranged on a rack, wherein multiple seedling carrying areas are formed in the seedling box; a seedling tray is arranged in each seedling carrying area; a row of longitudinally distributed feeding holes are formed in the middle of each seedling tray; the seedling box is mounted on upper and lower sliding channels and can slide leftwards and rightwards; the seedling ejecting mechanism corresponds to the seedling trays and comprises seedling ejecting rods which are moved forwards and backwards under the joint action of a seedling ejecting cam shaft and return springs and eject the seedling trays out; the transverse seedling sending device comprises a double-helical cam shaft sleeved with a sliding sleeve and fixedly arranged on the rack, a slider is arranged in the sliding sleeve and is in clearance fit with the inside of a spiral groove of the double-helical cam shaft, the sliding sleeve is fixedly connected and welded to seedling box connection rods on the seedling box, and the double-helical cam shaft drives the seedling box connected with the seedling box connection rods to move leftwards and rightwards during rotating; the longitudinal seedling sending device shifts the seedling tray feeding holes through longitudinal shifting rods, so that the seedling trays can move longitudinally.
