[0026] Multiple cycles are typically experienced in peritoneal dialysis, consisting of three phases. The dialysis treatment starts in a first step with a drainage phase in which the spent dialysate is drained from the peritoneum. The second step is followed by a main phase or a flushing phase in order to flush out the air in the tubing system with the dialysate in the dialysate bag. The solution for irrigation is introduced directly into the drainage bag with the aid of a device for controlling the course of the fluid. The filling phase, also referred to as the filling phase, is carried out with the aid of a third step for filling the peritoneum with fresh dialysis solution. Corresponding to the treatment prescription, the solution remains in the peritoneum for a certain period of time before the next cycle begins again with the first phase.
