Problems solved by technology

[0016] Another drawback is that when entering the pre-filter chamber from above, the blood moves against the natural movement of the air bubbles, resulting in a consequent slowing down of the flow of the blood and the same difficulty in degassing the air bubbles
[0017] Furthermore, known devices of this second type require the use of a diffuser element arranged to face the blood inlet mouth in the pre-filter chamber defined by the supply duct, thereby increasing the assembly complexity and production costs of the device itself

Embodiment Construction

[0045] Referring specifically to the respective drawings, generally indicated by reference numeral 1 is a filtering device for venous blood.

[0046] The device 1 comprises a rigid box-shaped housing 2 delimiting filter chambers 3 , 4 and at least one internally hollow filter element 5 arranged in the filter chambers 3 , 4 .

[0047] The filter element 5 thus delimits a pre-filter chamber 3 and a post-filter chamber 4 , into which venous blood to be filtered is delivered and from which filtered blood is output.

[0048] More specifically, the filter element 5 has a substantially tubular structure, wherein the pre-filter chamber 3 and the post-filter chamber 4 correspond to the volumes of the inside and outside of the filter element, respectively. The pre-filter chamber 3 is thus delimited laterally only by the filter element 5 , whereas the post-filter chamber 4 is delimited laterally by the filter element 5 on one side and by the wall of the housing 2 on the other side.

Abstract

A filtering device (1) of the venous blood comprising at least a rigid box-shaped casing (2) defining a filtering chamber (3, 4), at least an internally hollow filtering element (5) arranged within the filtering chamber (3, 4) to delimit a pre-filtering chamber (3) and a post-filtering chamber (4), at least a supply pipe (7) of the blood to be filtered communicating with the pre-filtering chamber (3), where the box-shaped casing (2) is of the monolithic type and defines the supply pipe (7), the latter being arranged externally to the filtering chamber (3, 4) and comprising a first area (7a) defined at the upper portion of said casing (2) and connectable to a conveying line of the venous blood and a second area (7b) associated with the lower portion of said casing (2) and communicating with the pre-filtering chamber (3), the device (1) further comprising fractionation means (11) of the air bubbles arranged within the supply pipe (7).

Description

technical field [0001] The invention relates to a filtering device for venous blood. Background technique [0002] The introduction of extracorporeal circuits of blood circulation suitable for temporary replacement of cardiopulmonary functions during certain surgical procedures is well known. [0003] Extracorporeal blood circuits of the known type provide a venous line suitable for delivering blood (strictly speaking, venous blood) from a patient to a filtering device called a "venous reservoir", which in turn Connected to another container called a "cardiac salvage reservoir" designed to receive and filter blood from the surgical field. [0004] The venous reservoir and the intracardiac salvage reservoir are thus suitable for removing any air bubbles present in the blood, and both can be integrated in a single device or separated from each other. [0005] Blood leaving the venous reservoir is pumped to a heat exchanger to regulate its temperature, an oxygenator to regula...
