The method comprises the steps that: a management node obtains a first corresponding relation between a MAC address and an IP address of a data node, and obtains a MAC table item learnt from switching equipment, wherein the MAC table item records a second corresponding relation between a port of the switching equipment and the MAC table item learnt from the switching equipment; and the management node determines the rack switching equipment connected with the data node by utilizing the first corresponding relation and the second corresponding relation. By adopting the method and the device provided by the invention, position of the data node is automatically perceived, manual configuration workload is reduced, and configuration errors are avoided.
