Embodiment Construction

[0043] The present invention relates generally to methods and devices for testing a patient's skin, and in particular to testing a patient's skin for autonomic nervous system sensitivity. Auricular acupuncture electrotherapy treatment involves inserting electrotherapy needles into the patient's skin at certain sensitive points on the ear in combination with a specific treatment plan, and applying electrotherapy signals to the electrotherapy needles. Finding where to place the needle can be determined by predicting the general location and testing or measuring local skin electrical resistance. However, electrotherapy treatment works through the autonomic nervous system, so skin resistance alone is not the best test indicator for electrotherapy needle placement.

[0044] According to one embodiment of the present invention, testing and measurement for electrotherapy needle placement can generate and apply electrical signals similar or identical to electrotherapy signals that can...

Abstract

A method for electrical testing includes providing a battery, and generating a periodic signal in time from a circuit. The method for electrical testing further including providing an electrically conductive tip adapted to electrically contact but not puncture a first portion of a surface when the surface is tested, and coupling the periodic signal to the electrically conductive tip.
