[0017] The present invention relates to an anticoagulant composition for preventing coagulation of fish blood. Anticoagulant components include potassium chloride, sodium chloride, EDTA, trisodium citrate dihydrate, and phosphate buffer.

[0018] Phosphate buffer is made from a combination of sodium disodium phosphate and monopotassium phosphate. The amount of phosphate buffer ranges from 0.008 mM to 0.012 mM. The amount of sodium disodium phosphate ranges from 9.0 mM to 10.5 mM, and the amount of monopotassium phosphate ranges from 1.5 mM to 2.5 mM.

[0019] Potassium chloride ranges from 2.0 mM to 3.0 mM. Sodium chloride ranges from 130 mM to 140 mM. EDTA ranges from 1 mM to 2 mM. Trisodium citrate dihydrate ranges from 0.10 mM to 0.12 mM.

Background technique [0002] Fundamental methods for studying the immunology of warm-water teleost species are limited. Little is known about tropical warm water fish compared to cold water fish species. (Lin et al. 2005). One of the differences between cold and warm water fish is the time to blood clotting (Feeney et al. 1972; Kawatsu 1986), which is more rapid in fish with warmer water temperatures (Huss 1993). Also, warm-water marine fish undergo blood clotting more rapidly than warm-water freshwater fish. Since the spread of pathogens is more intense in warmer water systems, warm water fish need to evolve this rapid blood clotting mechanism to prevent disease infection through open wounds.
