The invention discloses a method and system for judging whether a driver is distracted or not. The method includes the steps that firstly, vehicle external information is detected, wherein the external information includes one or multiple following pieces of visible information collected by a front camera, a target detection information collected by front radar and road surface condition information provided by a GPS device connected with a driven vehicle or environmental information provided by an Internet of Vehicles device connected with the driven vehicle; secondly, vehicle information is detected, wherein the vehicle information includes one or multiple following pieces of braking information, acceleration information, gear changing information and steering information or lane charging information of the vehicle; and thirdly, according to the vehicle external information and the vehicle information, the driver distraction condition is judged, and a prompt for suggesting the driver to have a rest is sent to the driver. By means of the above method and system, distraction of the driver can be effectively detected, the prompt can be sent out, and therefore potential safety hazards are reduced.
